1 Year Progress Report

Evan just came back from his 1-year check up and he’s doing marvelous. He’s right on track physically and developmentally. He now weighs 23 lbs, 13 oz.(from 21 lbs, 6 oz 3 months ago) and is 31 inches tall (from 30 ¼). The growth of his head has slowed significantly (thank God) and measures in at a still large, but less freakish 19.09 inches (from 18.98 inches).

I know you’re all wondering how he measures up, so, in comparison to his peers, Evan’s percentiles are:

Height: 84.66%
Weight: 65.31%
Head Circumference: 94.71%

Speaking of measuring up, in case any of you are wondering, Evan is perfectly well-endowed. Much to Brad’s astonishment and horror, I asked his pediatrician.

In other news, we now have 8 teeth and 2 more on the way. The tooth invasion seems to have tapered off a bit, so we’re all doing our best to catch up on sleep before the next major milestone. Evan is talking in sentences now. Only God, Evan, and possibly Levi understand what he’s saying, but he’s definitely telling stories and talking up a storm, and sometimes I even catch him singing to himself.

Evan’s Word Repertoire and Translations:
Oh = Hello
Doe = Dog
Da = Dad
Ma = Mom
Ba = look at that
Yeah = Space filler he says a lot, but none of us know what it means

He now waves “hello” and “good-bye,” gives hugs, kisses and high fives.

Evan is still a little unsteady walking, but he’s got crawling conquered. He can even climb the stairs by himself now. Unfortunately he’s a bit like a cat caught in a tree. He can go up, but down is a bit more difficult. And painful. We’ve had a minor mishap with our small set of stairs, and hopefully Evan learned his lesson from that one.

The other day he heard Brad start to run the water for his nightly bath and Evan dropped his toy and began crawling; out of the living room, up the stairs, and into the bathroom. The boy loves his baths. And his puppy, birds (especially chickens), books and being tickled. Peek-a-boo is as always, a favorite past time, as is crawling, banging on the TV, and eating lint.
Evan is quickly growing into a little man. He is active, curious, and as happy as can be, and he's a continued source of joy and entertainment for all of us. This year has gone by so fast and being able to spend it with Evan has been such a privilege.

Happy Birthday Evan! We love you!
